Abraham Maslow was one of the most influential psychologists of the 20th Century and a firm believer in human GREATNESS.
Throughout his life, he constantly pondered “What makes for happy, creative, fulfilled human beings?”
I like to think there is a close correlation between what Maslow termed “the characteristics of self-actualizing people” and what I simply refer to as “proactive”
In his book “Motivation and Personality”, Maslow wrote a chapter on “Self-actualizing people: A Study of Psychological Health”
He outlines 19 characteristics of self-actualizing people
* Perception of Reality
* Acceptance
* Spontaneity
* Problem Centering
* Solitude
* Autonomy
* Fresh Appreciation
* Peak Experiences
* Human Kinship
* Humility and Respect
* Interpersonal Relationships
* Ethics
* Means and Ends
* Humor
* Creativity
* Resistance to Enculturation
* Imperfections
* Values
* Resolution of Dichotomies
These characteristics are skillfully reviewed on MP3.
